Managing your subscription — upgrades, downgrades, cancellation

Plan changes, payment method updates, invoices, and cancellation are all self-serve through the Stripe billing portal. Here's how to get there.

Where to go

Open your dashboard, click Settings, scroll to Account, and click Open billing portal. You'll land in Stripe's hosted billing portal — same one used by countless other SaaS products.

From there you can:

  • Update your payment method
  • Download invoices
  • Change plans
  • Cancel or reactivate
  • Update billing email

Upgrading

Pick the higher plan from the portal. The change takes effect immediately — your minute pool refreshes, your access expands, all in real time. Stripe prorates the difference so you only pay for the remainder of the current cycle.

You're on Pro with 1,000 voice minutes. You're 800 in and you don't want to risk hitting the cap before the cycle resets.

Downgrading

Pick the lower plan. The change takes effect at your next billing date — until then, you keep your current plan's features. No immediate disruption, no refund for the difference.

If you downgrade from Pro or Growth to Basic mid-cycle, voice keeps working until the cycle ends, then voice goes dark and chat continues.

Cancellation

Cancel from the billing portal. Cancellation is effective at the end of your current paid period — you keep service through that date, then your account moves to canceled status.

Your data stays for 30 days after cancellation. If you reactivate within that window, everything (FAQs, AI name, branding, OpenDental connection) comes back exactly as you left it.

After 30 days, your account is permanently deleted per the privacy policy.

Reactivation

If you canceled and want to come back, just click Reactivate in the billing portal (or in Settings → Account, which detects the canceled state and shows a reactivate button). No re-onboarding required.

Payment failures

If your card is declined, you get a Stripe email immediately and a banner in your dashboard. Salva keeps running for 3 days while Stripe retries. After that, your account is set to past-due and access pauses until you update the card. Avoid this by keeping your card on file current.

Trial-to-paid transitions

Your trial converts to paid automatically on day 15 unless you cancel first. The card you provided at signup is charged. To downgrade before that happens, change plans from the billing portal — your trial transfers to the new plan.
